In all honesty I got a few stares wearing this headpiece at work... Though I did tuck in the lace neatly, so that I can actually see. :)
I bought this fascinator-headband for a photoshoot I styled (more about that in my next post) but I couldn't resist composing it into an outfit. To start out with, I thought it would be hopeless for me to wear such a blunt red headpiece with my red hair, but I ended up really liking it with some accessories in different shades of red.
Regardless of the stares, I'm looking forward to wearing this again. For instance on Valentine's day! As we don't celebrate it traditionally here in Hungary, not much happens on the 14th. There are more chocolate adverts on TV, but that's all really...
I decided that this year instead of huffing and puffing about consumerist conspiracy, I'll celebrate my way, and just enjoy what goes along with it, sporting some extravagant headgear and bright red lipstick.
I won't buy anything though! I'm not falling for the consumerist stuff, ha. :)
Wearing: H&M headpiece, New Yorker dress, Promod belt from a skirt,
Cazedonia tights, Promod boots.

Pretty! I love this dress on you and that headpiece is really unique.
These days, a fascinator like this will attract much attention but, years ago, they were commonplace. They are fun if you don't mind being looked at. I saw a woman on a date wearing a similar one recently to a fancy restaurant and she glowed with beauty. Everyone was transfixed by her and it.
Love that dress!!!!!
I didn't know they had such lovely dresses at New Yorker! Ours just seems to sell the cheap looking glitter stretchy tops in all the wrong fabrics. Yuck! I love your headpiece too, I love how red looks with our ginger hair! ^^ x
Love it! I almost wore a giant bow on my head to work but then I chickened out last minute. Your photos are so cute that I realized I should PROBABLY just do it ;)
Also we aren't big 'buyers' on V-day either. I told boyfriend if he bought me a cheesy present I would be angry. And then I went out and bought my own chocolate ;)
I love your headpiece! I actually wore a headpiece yesterday but not at work. I didn't have the nerve, haha.
You look "retro"! I love your dress... is beautiful! :)
xoxo
The headpiece looks great! It will be great to celebrate valentines day with. The entire outfit works so well together :]
love the print of your dress!
♥ valour & lace
Thanks! There were loads of these headpieces left in H&M, as apparently nobody finds them wearable. At least it will stay unique. :)
Oh, nice! Maybe I'll dress it up one day. :)
Thanks!
Hehe, I know what you mean! The material isn't very nice, but I've never had a similarly cut dress and it was so cheap I couldn't pass it up...
Yeah, do it! :)
And we definitely deserve some chocolate from time to time. Not only once a year. :)
Maybe when you get more used to it, you can give it a try! :)
Thank you Gabi! :)
Thank you! :)
I think it's awesome and I do hope you wear it again and again. You might like this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWKTfqivbRQ
The headpiece is very, very pretty! It is a shame that people don't even wear proper hats much these days. There is so much style-potential in head-gear!
You're gorgeous in the headpiece, you know. (: You should wear it over and over and over and over... And you'll have to tell me what you do on Valentine's Day because, as usual, I do nothing. Ever.
Wow Madeline, this whole outfit is so beautiful! I love the adorable floral print on the dress and yes this headpiece is dazzling in your ginger hair! Really love it! :)
Thank you for that! I know the blog and I'm amazed by these ladies! :)
Oh, thank you! I know, I'm gonna pay more attention to headgear from now on. :)
Apart from wearing something extravagant on my head at work and retouching my lisptick every half an hour? I don't have any other plans. :) No, really, I don't feel the need to go on an elaborate date (I never do, really), and I'm not telling any of my friends I love them. Those who know, know.
I honestly don't think you should do what is expected just because everybody does that - enjoy the part of the day you like! In my case this includes wearing something out of my comfort zone. Luckily there's no pressure around me to be cheesy, as... I can't stand cheesyness. Sorry, that's what I'm like...
Thank you, that's really nice to read! :)
thats good that you're not into the promoted items on ads haha.. I like your headpiece, people in Japan wear it lots of times in Lolita cosplay/harajuku, It's so daring to wear props to you ;D
I love the headband.
Thanks for your comment! The brooch is from VĂ¡ci utca from one of these cheesy tourist souvenir shops haha ;D
Of course you know that I love the headband with the dress,(especially the ruffled hem) it looks great on you! I think it's best to celebrate any day in your way. Whatever makes you feel good.
Really? Interesting! I'd love to visit Japan, it's one of my dream destinations. :)
Thanks!
I've seen similar ones, I actually llike them... Though they have nothing to do with actual folk art. :D
Thanks, that's what I intend to do. :)
Hey it's me again!
