Peonies in Bloom

This is my Mum's garden, or to be precise, the garden of the house where my Mum's flat is, and where I grew up. Do certain places inspire you to dress in different ways?

I think this dress definitely matches the peonies well! It's second hand, and according to the label, a petite size, so it's out of the question for me to wear it on it's own - enter new skinnies to save the day! It's hard to see, but it has a bow on the front (Sarah? :), and I love the cut, as the back runs a bit lower to accentuate the waist, while it's higher on the front so as not to accentuate the wearer's belly. Mine, in other words. :)

I don't know about you, but I love buttons. I used to have a backpack in secondary school that I covered with them. That's why I got this purse with a giant button on, ages and ages ago, but I still love it. My bracelet is made out of buttons too. :)

Dress: second hand, Jeans: Takko, Shoes: Humanic, Bag: Promod, Hat: C&A, Bracelet: gift

Look, I turned and turned into a cat.

This is Nyafi, our not very photogenic but actually very handsome and smooth-furred, and also very intelligent "cat that walks by herself". She found us on the street and she's generally pleased with our performance to feed and adore her, so she stays to rule the flat and neighbourhood, and ocassionally bring dead mice and birds to feed us. Very nice of her, isn't it?

lol. Love the cat picture below yours. And this dress is amazing on you. It fits perfectly and you look gorgeous.

Thank you for the lovely comment, Gracey! :)

Nyafi has her own mind, she didn't want to be held at the time, so we don't have a picture together - maybe at another photo session. :)

oh my word, I LOVE this look. The top/dress is sooo freaking cute, and those shoes are just to die for. How come I decide to stop buying shoes and then I start seeing cute shoes all over the place? Not fair! haha :)

Ooh, thank you, it means a lot if you say so! :)

And these shoes are perfect indeed - the biggest plus for me is that they're soooo comfortable.

That dress is adorable (but definitely not meant to be worn as a dress for the non-petite). I wouldn't have noticed the bow if you hadn't pointed it out, you know. I'm glad you did, now I like it even more. I find that, when I have the choice, I pick my surroundings based on what matches my look for that day.

Lastly, your cat seems to be posing quite coyly for you. It is quite thoughtful that she brings you dead mice and birds.

You look amazing, Madeline! Those shoes especially are fantastic and a perfect compliment to the dress. & my cat brings small dead animals around too--she really thinks she's the hottest thing on earth when she catches something. It's sad but kind of funny the way she struts when she's caught a lizard!

Next time I must take a close up of the bow for you. :)

Very thoughtful cat indeed - the best is when she positions the dead mouse inside a slipper, hidden out of sight. And I'm not joking here.
I'm not the screaming type but when that happened I did shriek like a banshee! :D

Thank you, Jess! :)
I know, they're so sweet when they do that! She also brings not-quite-dead things and invites us to play with them. Hehe, not much chance, but as a patient teacher she never gives up. :)

I'm so glad I came across your blog, this post is lovely. I love your dress and the outfit is so well accessorized. I'm a big button fan too, you can use them to decorate so many things.

Your mum's garden is so pretty, i love all the ivy and the peonies.
and damn you are so lucky - i wish i could turn into a cat.

Welcome and thank you! :)
Buttons are almost jewellery, they come in so many colours and shapes. It's a great trick to change the set of buttons on a coat - it makes you feel like you have a new coat. :)

Haha, Lyddie, thank you for that, nothing better than having a laugh in the morning! :)
