The Footwear Conondrum

I have to admit I'd love to have worn my tall boots with this outfit.
But something got in the way. :)

It's never ever crossed my mind before it happened to me, but when you're pregnant, it's really difficult to bend down, basically only possible when your hip is in a certain angle and your legs are spreadeagle. Me and everyone who witnesses me putting socks and footwear on finds this extremely hilarious. :D Please don't ask me for photos though! :)

So when it came to pulling my tall boots on, I realised it's proving to be a feat on a par with Houdini escaping from a closed tank of water, and taking them off would be verging on the impossible. So here I am, wearing my trusty Docs again... And shhh, I actually also bought a pair of very simple and wide boots that don't even have laces or zips. :)

More Snow

For a change, there is something to look and wonder at by the window - it's been snowing again!

I'm a winter child and cannot get bored by snow. I'm always amazed when it falls, the flakes never cease to amaze me, whether they are fluffy and heavy, or small and crystal-like.

I will never forget when I first realised snowflakes look like tiny flowers, standing in the sandpit in nursery school. It's one of my first memories and sense of awe I felt then will remain with me forever.

We took a walk by a small lake today and saw this mini-snowman, perfect in every detail!

This dress was soooo cheap, probably because nobody else thought it was actually wearable... The collar remind me of snowflakes. :)

Wearing the Moon

Hello Darkness, my old friend! And Blur, your trusty companion...
Anyway, I can still shine when I'm wearing the Moon!

I got this necklace when I was on an Erasmus scholarship in England, loooong years ago, and at that time it was shiny and uniform. However, as the years went by, it started corroding, and what a gorgeous thing corrosion is! Now it looks just like the Moon...

 I wore this outfit to see the nurse - and to listen to Bobek's heartbeat. :)

Happy New Year Everyone!

I hope it will be a great year! 2012 was a fine one, let's see what 2013 will bring! :)

I know, long time no see... I just set up my little photo corner so that I can take pictures inside (however grainy), instead of braving the cold! Brr!

And yes, that's Bobek! He's growing and kicking a lot, which is a great experience! We're at 6 months now! :)

And yes, I'm still getting dressed, using my old clothes mixed with very few pregnancy items, like this brill skirt. It's a godsend as my dresses transform into tunics and my tunics into tops as my belly grows! :)

It rather looks like I'm back to blogging after all!

1. What is your perfect Sunday afternoon?

Watching snow fall, having hot chocolate, putting my favourite clothes on, stroking a cat and reading.
2. Favourite vegetable?

I go into raptures when I eat broccoli. But really. I mean I moan.
3. If you were to hold a dinner party, who would you invite and why? (Logistical things like time, space and species do not apply here!)

Italo Calvino, Haruki Murakami, Marilyn Monroe, Martin Munkácsi, Brassai, Csontváry, my Boyfriend and my friends, plus some cats. Everyone would relax immediately because of the presence of the cats, Marilyn would dazzle everyone and the photographers would take amazing photographs and we could all talk books and sketch each other.
4. Have you been to all of the tourist monuments in your hometown?

I guess so, and many times, I like taking people around.
5. What item of clothing do you own more of than any other?

Maybe panties? That's very un-style-blogger-like, eh?

Légy jó mindhalálig. If you're Hungarian, you know what I'm talking about. And every schoolchild has to read it. Jeez, I still get pissed off when I think about it! :D

I gave up driving altogether. :)

About Coelho's claim that Ulysses was utter drivel. What other proof you need that that man is stupid beyond measure? (It seems like I get pissed off about literature a lot! Oh well, everyone has their passionate topics.)
10. How old would you be if you didn't know how old you were?

9 and 29 at the same time. I remember the happiness when I turned 18 and got accepted to uni, I was so glad I didn't belong among teenagers anymore! Funnily enough I just skipped that age and ended up a child-hearted grown-up instead.
11. What's in the diary for tomorrow?

A thrifting trip in the afternoon! :)

Isn't this thrifted bag cute? My Mum found it at our favourite second hand store - proof that all the inconveniences of thrifting that I wrote about are worth it after all!





















For some reason I lift my hand to my neck on almost all the pictures, and I have no idea why. The necklace holds up fine, one doesn't need to hold it in place! :)









































I'm definitely selling this set along with many others once the project I'm working on is finished, and I'll have time to set up the Etsy shop of my dreams! Next week! Exciting!

Green Birthday

I'm green, regardless of the years that pass me by. Oh well, that's what I'm like.

This past week I've survived the extraction of my last remaining wisdom tooth, so I can also add that instead of gaining wisdom over time, I rather lose it. :) 

Anyway, I'm so happy my face is almost back to its normal size after a short detour to looking like a chipmunk, and then the Godfather, that I'll show you what I'm wearing on my birthday! :)

So many lovely blog friends have their birthdays in December, happy birthday again to those who already celebrated them and to those who will, in advance!

Ice Flower

I remember a blogger mentioning how common it was to find an original Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress in thrift shops, and how you'll eventually meet the one that's your size. ( I forgot the source, sorry.) I thought, oh well, probably in the US... So I couldn't believe my eyes when I spotted this DVF dress in one of my favourite second hand shops!

One thing I always look out for when second hand shopping is materials I couldn't afford new, and silk is definitely one of them. A heavy silk jersey wrap dress, what else can you wish for for the winter? A pattern called Ice Flower, maybe. Which is what this lovely pattern is called, which I've found out after some online detective work. It makes me think of ghosts of jellyfish rather than flowers, but that's just my personal weirdness. 

Oh, and it cost just the same as all the other, cotton or polyester, no-name dresses... After finding out how much these wrap dresses cost new, I'm really marvelling at my luck now!

This shot reminds me of the days I used to do Hungarian folk dancing, as this twirl looks just like a folk dance move!
I was just wondering how many time Hungarian folk dance and DVF was mentined in one page when I found this interesting blog entry of Diane's looking through the DVF website. Guess what, she visited Budapest in the summer! Really nice of her that she writes about her experiences and am I glad she liked my city!

Illustrated Shoot - The Day of

These pictures are inspired by John Wyndham's book, The Day of the Triffids.

As you might have guessed, it describes how giant human-eating plants take over the Earth.

It sounds quite like a terribly corny horror, I know. :) But it's much more about human nature than creatures of fantasy. It describes a post-apocalyptic London haunted by armed bands so well, sensible Englishness turned upside down and inside out, that when I went to London and my bus went past places mentioned in the book, the memories of the Triffids welled up really strongly. I'll always see Swiss Cottage surrounded by man-eating plants.

Not a word of fashion was mentioned in this post, but at least you can read what I wore... :)

Cats and Owls

Hello yellow!

My lovely friend Martina thought of me when she saw this t-shirt as I draw similar cats to this yawning one, and she got it for me. I haven't been this happy with a gifted piece of clothing since I was a child. :) 

I also love this shirt which I bought second hand for about 3 dollars. It's Miu Miu. :)
