Green Birthday

I'm green, regardless of the years that pass me by. Oh well, that's what I'm like.

This past week I've survived the extraction of my last remaining wisdom tooth, so I can also add that instead of gaining wisdom over time, I rather lose it. :) 

Anyway, I'm so happy my face is almost back to its normal size after a short detour to looking like a chipmunk, and then the Godfather, that I'll show you what I'm wearing on my birthday! :)

So many lovely blog friends have their birthdays in December, happy birthday again to those who already celebrated them and to those who will, in advance!

Illustrated Shoot - The Day of

These pictures are inspired by John Wyndham's book, The Day of the Triffids.

As you might have guessed, it describes how giant human-eating plants take over the Earth.

It sounds quite like a terribly corny horror, I know. :) But it's much more about human nature than creatures of fantasy. It describes a post-apocalyptic London haunted by armed bands so well, sensible Englishness turned upside down and inside out, that when I went to London and my bus went past places mentioned in the book, the memories of the Triffids welled up really strongly. I'll always see Swiss Cottage surrounded by man-eating plants.

Not a word of fashion was mentioned in this post, but at least you can read what I wore... :)

Blue Moon

The absolute highlight of this outfit for me is my gorgeous new necklace.

My Mum made this beautiful pendant and as I helped her assemble quite a few necklaces yesterday, I sort of felt like I deserve one in exchange... I fell in love with this one!

I fall in love with these sandals as well, every time I wear them. :)

The days are getting shorter so fast... These pictures taken at my favourite door are quite dark already. Wait a minute, shorter days remind me first of all of shorter picture-taking time? I must be hooked on this blogging thing after all. :)

Make Love Not War

Surprising piece of news of the day: I slept on a roughly three centimetres (one inch) thick matress on the floor. In our own flat. Why, you might ask? The small of my back has been behaving strangely lately. Getting sort of stuck when I bent down, or turned to the side. I’ve been crazy anxious about this, so I decided to see what happens if I slept on a flat, hard surface instead of a real bed. And my back is so much better now! (Fingers crossed, knock on wood, and everything else you should do…)

Have you ever had similar problems with your back? If so, what did you do to solve them? Please share, I’d like to get my poor back back to it’s normal state.

Now that we’re talking about my back, do you think I should paint anything on it? I don’t mean my skin of course but this shirt. I bought it second hand, and it’s probably military surplus, so I’m wondering how to „pacify” it.

The bag I’m wearing is a military one too, but I’m really a „Make Love Not War” type of person, so I painted the mermaid on it to make it more wearable. (Her eyes look sort of funny on this picture. Sorry, mermaid!) If you’re interested, I used acrylic paint, it works really well on canvas, obviously. :) So, should I paint something on the back of the shirt? A dove? Another mermaid? Some lettering? Ideas are very welcome!

I couldn’t help taking close-ups of this wonderful necklace as my Mum made it. She’s a ceramicist and this heart is one of my favourite designs of hers. It’s two people holding each other’s faces, a perfect symbol of love. Which reminds me - thank you Boyfriend, for sleeping on the floor with me. :)

Another piece of surprising news: I won a giveaway! Never in my life have I won anything that needed luck. I still can’t believe it! Lovely Leanne over at The Violet Reaction gave away the mini wallet made by her own fair hands. Bridesmaid Sandals

Wearing chunky green sandals, teal tights and a fringed bag. And a lace dress... Which, contrary to what it might seem on the pictures, is fully lined, girls! And boys! :)

As you can see, I love this bag. I have to admit though that my biggest love are the sandals.
They proved to be faithful friends through thick and thin - accompanying me to one of my best friends' wedding last May, for instance. I should thank her (Hi, Ildi!) for these lovelies, as she had the idea to dress her bridesmaids in green, and in the instant I heard this, I envisaged green shoes... And stalked them in Tamaris. Honestly, after seeing a picture of them on display, I kept pestering the shopkeepers about when they will arrive. I figured as I found a dress for the wedding for insanely cheap, I really deserved some nice shoes. :)
