Cheer up and Rock and Roll

Never mind that I'm losing one shoe, I'm in a rock and roll mood!

Don't ask me which move this is though. :)

Believe it or not, I received this dress as a present when I was 12. I'm sure you have some relatives who only see you once a year. Well, mine must have thought I'm a proper, round adolescent girl. As the smallest in my class, I really didn't have the size and shape to fill in this dress... Till last year.

How many times does it happen though that you can wear one of your childhood dresses in your twenties? I'm enjoying it to the full!

I'm so happy to have found these steps! I loved the setting so much that taking these photos really cheered my day up - I'm feeling better about taking my own pictures now. :)

And I'm super happy with how this picture came out. For a change you can actually see my accessories properly. :)
For those of you who are interested in why I don't laquer my nails, it's beacuse of my job. I love polishes, but I draw and print, so the polish would be chipped in an hour and dissolved into oblivion in the next.

This is where I'm reminiscing about my teenage years. (I don't miss them, by the way.)

Love Story

But it didn't last long.

I'm quite aware this t-shirt reads PINK. I also think it's there for the benefit of the colour-blind and possibly has nothing to do with the pop-star under the same name. However, I like to believe it just reads INK, and if I turn slightly to the side, that's exactly what you see. As a lover of illustration and any sort of ink that I can doodle or print with, I think I deserve an INK t-shirt. Until it arrives I will always turn a little when I wear this top.

Handmade... Books

I've been looking forward to trying my hand at making books for a long time, and finally I did, attending a workshop for 9 hours - these two lovelies are the result.

 

Well, if someone ever gives you a handmade blank book as a present, revere it (and them), as a lot of time and effort goes into making these. But they're absolutely worth it. :)

My models wear scrapbooking paper, H&M and Jojó Art Shop roses
and lounge around on my clothes. :)

On a different note, this is what I wore today. I'm so inspired by Art Nouveau patterns at the moment (as you can see above). I'm aware of this wrap dress not being truly Art Nouveau, but it reminds me of it - and that's more than enough for something thrifted for ridiculously cheap!

I'm Grainy but Otherwise I'm OK

These photos came out really-really grainy, I was thinking about not posting them at all... 

What do you do when things like this happen? When you don't like your pictures for some reason?

Starting this blog also made me really aware of what strange faces I make when being photographed. Most of the time I look like I've just seen an alien or something. :) 

Do you have any tips on how to show your best face to the camera? Do you have anything you think about when you're photographed that makes you at ease? Or is it just practice practice and practice?

Today's outfit details: Jacket and culottes: Zara, Cardigan: Promod. I love how assymetric it is and that it has a pin as closure. I'm sure it will feature in not-so-grainy pictures for the details to be properly seen...

Falling into Grunge

So on these pictures you can witness me falling.
Into heaps of clutter currently found in the flat. :)

For this early spring grunge look I wore a flowery Orsay dress with a H&M belt and a Jojó leather cuff, to toughen it up a little. And as the weather decided to revert back to winter again, so here I am back to my trusty Doc Martens'. Just to do them some justice and so that they get some sunshine too, below is a truly dramatic picture of them.

Really, not enough people realise how great these shoes are. Here in Budapest I only ever see the tough versions on punks. It took me a whole year to meet someone with the exact same blue pair. Absolutely versatile and the most comfortable shoes I've ever had... OK, this turned out to be a love letter to my Docs, but hey, they deserve it! :)
